What Is Personal Care?

At Chamomile Care, our personal care services are about providing support to adults in Oxfordshire that help them stay independent in their own homes.

Our carefully vetted Care Workers are here to help with daily tasks that might feel a bit challenging lately. So you or your loved one can keep their dignity and feel at ease where they're happiest. As we focus on building familiarity to help your loved one feel cared for with kindness and understanding.

Every person's needs are unique, but here are some ways our Care Workers can lend a hand:

  • Bathing, showering, and personal hygiene

  • Shaving and grooming

  • Oral care

  • Skin and hair care, like filing nails

  • Using the bathroom and continence support

  • Dressing and undressing

  • Help getting in and out of bed

  • Support with eating and drinking

  • Medication reminders and assistance as per the care plan

Bathing and showering

Our Care Workers handle this task with genuine respect and dignity. You or your loved one will always feel comfortable every step of the way. We maintain independence by helping only where needed, such as getting in and out of the bath safely.

Getting dressed

Choosing clothes should always start the day on a positive note. We offer help with selecting outfits or managing any tricky fastenings, so our Service Users keep up their personal style with ease. Which can do wonders for one's self-esteem and mental wellbeing.

Oral hygiene

We offer support with brushing teeth and any other oral care. This keeps your or your loved one's smile bright and self-esteem high.

Skin and hair care

Looking well-groomed matters to everyone's wellbeing. Our Care Workers provide discreet help with skin care, hair styling, and nail filing. These small touches help one to continue feeling like themselves.

Using the bathroom and continence

We understand the private nature of bathroom needs, and so our Care Workers make sure to be dignified, respectful, professional, and polite. Whether it’s help with using the bathroom or managing continence products as required, we preserve our Service Users’ dignity at all times.

Moving position in bed

Comfort and safety in bed reduces the risk of pressure sores and other issues from developing. Our care workers come in to help you or your loved one turn over with a delicate touch and respect, and without disturbance.

Eating and drinking

Mealtimes should always be enjoyable each day. We can recommend certain foods, serve it appealingly, or provide feeding support if needed. This helps our Service Users stay properly nourished and hydrated.

Managing medication

Keeping up with medication can be vital for one's health. We give gentle reminders and practical assistance as part of a tailor-made care plan. This gives you or your loved one confidence that all health needs covered in the care plan are being consistently met.

Supporting Independence With Personal Care

We believe personal care should promote independence and not diminish it. Our compassionate Care Workers provide support tailor-made to you or your loved one's unique routines and preferences. This holistic approach helps one continue living life on their own terms with confidence.

Many people are initially reluctant to accept help of any kind. That's why we focus entirely on what matters to the individual. Whether they'd like help with bathing, dressing, or medication, our support fits seamlessly into the lives of those we help. We complement our Service Users' daily routines, rather than disrupt them.

We strive to match you or your loved one with the same familiar Care Workers as much as possible. This consistency forms bonds that transform care from a service into a friendly relationship. With Chamomile Care, our Service Users gain not just assistance, but a dedicated friend who helps them feel secure and happy with every visit. Reach out to us for dignified, discreet personal care shaped around your routine.

Bespoke Personal Care

Everyone's care needs are uniquely their own. That's why our personal care plans centre completely around the individual's specific needs and established routines.

Whether one prefers morning showers or evening baths, our Care Workers honour this. This helps one remain at home in a friendly and well-known environment.

Care should be without interruption but with support. That's why we listen attentively and adapt our support task by task. Whether it's bathing, dressing, or medication management, we help in ways that respect our Service Users' dignity. The aim is to offer help without disrupting the rhythms of one's life.

Flexible Visiting Care To Suit One's Lifestyle

We offer care visits that adapt to you or your loved one's changing needs throughout our visits.

Our Care Workers can visit at specific times to provide exactly the right support. Whether they would like a little help in the morning or care throughout the day, we're there when they ask us to be, as per the care plan.

Care For All Ages And Conditions

Whilst we specialise in supporting older adults, Chamomile Care also provides compassionate care for younger adults over 18. Whether helping with mobility challenges, memory issues, or other conditions, our Care Workers offer dignified support. This allows you to drop your shoulders knowing they're in caring hands.

Care Workers Who Go The Extra Mile

We think of nearly everything, going above and beyond, as almost a matter of routine. We carefully vet and employ only the kindest, most dedicated individuals who will treat you and/or your loved one with great dignity and complete professionalism.

Each Care Worker goes through in-depth training through our "Train the Trainer certification programme". This means they get direct mentorship from our management team that has over 40 years combined experience. So you and/or your loved one can be sure of our team's ability to deliver support that respects all preferences and preserves dignity.

Beyond personal care, we help with the little things that can make a big difference. Whether that's offering a helping hand, a warm smile, a friendly conversation, good humour, or genuine peace of mind that one's needs are met.

Ways Our Care Workers Can Help

1. Domestic support

Taking care of household chores like cleaning or laundry.

This keeps one's home a safe and cosy haven they can enjoy without worry.

2. Mobility assistance

Helping one move confidently around their home.

We ensure you or your loved one maintains independence as much as possible whilst staying safe.

3. Meal preparation

Choosing nutritious, appetising meals and drinks.

Our Care Workers ensure our Service Users have the right nutrition.

4. Medication management

Offering gentle reminders and practical support with medications.

This gives you and/or your loved one confidence that nothing is overlooked in any health routines outlined in the care plan.

5. Companionship

Sharing meaningful conversations and laughter.

Our care workers become people who get to know you or your loved one very well and ease feelings of loneliness by genuinely valuing one's individual qualities.

6. Community engagement

Providing warm company in Oxfordshire.

This helps our Service Users stay connected to their community and supported when going to shops, appointments, or social activities.

Personal Care For Someone Living With Parkinson's Disease

At Chamomile Care, our management team has over 40 years’ combined experience, and we truly understand the challenges that come with Parkinson's disease. This is why we offer support that helps our service users live their lives to the fullest despite the tricky situations they may face.

Our Care Workers receive specialised training in Parkinson's support. They understand its progressive nature and how it affects everyday activities.

We recognise that personal care becomes increasingly challenging as Parkinson's advances. Tasks like bathing, dressing, or moving around require patient, specialised support. That's why we create a calm and cosy environment where you or your loved one maintains independence and feels safe.

When Might Personal Care Be The Right Choice?

Personal care can provide discreet support when daily tasks become a little bit more challenging.

It's completely natural to feel anxious and afraid about trusting strangers with personal tasks like bathing or using the bathroom. We take such careful lengths to provide professional support that helps you or your loved one feel at ease whilst preserving dignity and independence. So much so that we have earned an "Outstanding" rating in "Caring" from the CQC!

Recovering from surgery

You or your loved one might benefit from extra support with personal tasks until they're back on their feet after a hospital stay. Our care workers provide gentle assistance during recovery and also offer dedicated rehabilitation care to help people regain their full strength.

Living alone

Living independently is precious, but can become a little bit more challenging as circumstances change. Our Care Workers visit at times that suit the routines of the families we help.

Experiencing memory challenges

Personal care routines can become troubling for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, which is why we offer kind and reassuring support that creates a sense of calm, familiarity, comfort, and security.

Struggling with hygiene

Staying fresh lifts everyone's spirits and health, but it's hard when other struggles arise. If showering feels tricky for you or your loved one, our Care Workers can help with quiet, kind care and support so you can feel clean, comfy, and confident.

Fully Regulated By The CQC

Chamomile Care is monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and we've earned an "Outstanding" rating in Caring. But what does this mean for you?

  • Our care meets strict safety standards

  • You can count on our high level of care

  • Everything we do follows CQC guidelines

Being regulated by the CQC means our care has been thoroughly inspected and reviewed. These evaluations must meet certain criteria and standards aimed at improving you or your loved one's experience. This third party oversight ensures that our Service Users receive consistent and industry-approved care.

Opting for a regulated provider (like us!) gives you peace of mind knowing our support is held to high standards. This dedication to quality ensures that you or your loved one has the highest quality possible care. All in the comfort of their own home.

Camomile Care were always there in our family's hour of need. Really helped us when we needed respite care for my mum and dad. Not an easy thing to do as it was not just one individual they needed to look after, but both and both with varying degrees of ill health. Would highly recommend them to others looking for at home care.
